What You Need to Get Started

Since your agent will automatically download, install, and configure JRebel with the help of the skills file, the prerequisites are minimal. However, to get started, you will need: 

  • A JRebel license or free trial. Without a valid license or free trial, JRebel attaches to the application but reloading is disabled, so the workflow falls back to a restart-based workflow. 
  • JDK 8 or later. 
  • A JVM project (Java, Kotlin, Groovy, Scala, or any JVM language) using Maven or Gradle, or runnable via java -jar. 
  • An application that can be started with JVM agent arguments. Most applications qualify; some managed or heavily containerized environments restrict this.
